A haunting supernatural horror experience
BrokenLore: LOW is a premium adventure game for PC developed by Serafini Productions. It is a first-person horror experience inspired by Eastern folklore and history. In it, players navigate a remote village enveloped by a mysterious mist, which causes all kinds of strange events to occur.
Much like GhostWire: Tokyo and OKAMI HD, BrokenLore: LOW delves deep into Japanese folklore, particularly the supernatural side, spirits, and ethereal beings. It also serves as a prologue that introduces an intriguing story further explored for the full release of the game called BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW.
Veiled in mist
BrokenLore: LOW takes place in a remote Japanese village called Kirisame Mura, or Village of the Mist. It is a place that is perpetually enveloped by mist. You play as Naomi Montgomery, an aspiring artist given an opportunity to launch her musical career. However, upon arriving, you immediately notice something is not right. Thus begins a haunting exploration into the dark secrets it holds.
You soon come to know of a legend about an ancient temple at the center of the town that mysteriously vanished due to an unfortunate tragedy, cursing all its residents. The gameplay is designed around a never-ending loop of events with minor variations you need to break out of. All the while, sinister spirits, and nightmarish beings will often appear and chase after you.
Avoid these hostile spirits as you find a way to break the cycle of events and lift the curse looming over the town. The game's low-resolution pixel art enhances its haunting, dreamlike aesthetic, immersing players in a melancholic yet captivating narrative. However, this game contains mature themes that might not be suitable for all audiences, including dark storytelling, unsettling atmospheres, and disturbing imagery.
Break the curse
BrokenLore: LOW is an intriguing horror adventure grounded in Japanese folklore, making it even more distinct and interesting. Watch everything unfold as you deal with vengeful spirits, a deeply intertwining narrative, and a curse that has held a village hostage for so long. With haunting pixel-art visuals and an immersive atmosphere, the game is a gripping prologue to BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW. However, its dark themes might not be suitable for all audiences.
